Wine enthusiasts unite for the "Acqui Wine Days," a sensory journey of aromatic vintages in full swing.
The picturesque town of Acqui Terme, nestled in the heart of Italy's Piedmont region, is set to host the Acqui Wine Days from August 4 to August 10. This week-long event promises a delightful fusion of wine tastings, themed dinners, musical entertainment, and al fresco picnics under the stars.
Organised by Palazzo Levi, the Consorzio Tutela Vini d'Acqui, Enoteca Regionale Terme&Vino, the Region, and the Province, the Acqui Wine Days aims to celebrate the region's viticultural and culinary excellence. The event is particularly focused on Brachetto d'Acqui and Acqui docg, two of Italy's most prestigious denominations of indigenous grapes.
Wine tastings will be held throughout the historic centre, offering visitors a chance to sample the great wines of Acqui Terme and the Piedmont region. Themed dinners, combining local cuisine with carefully selected wines from the denomination's consortium, will be held in atmospheric venues or outdoor settings during the festival week.
Musical entertainment will activate the squares and streets, providing live music that complements the convivial wine and food experiences. Picnics under the stars or al fresco events will allow guests to enjoy wine and food outdoors in the scenic surroundings of Acqui Terme, offering a relaxed and elegant atmosphere.
Experts will guide the public on a journey through the aromatic wines of the territory, providing insights into the unique characteristics of each wine. DOP cheeses from Rocverano, ravioli al plin, hazelnuts, honey, and more will be paired with the wines during the tastings, enhancing the overall experience.
On the final day, August 10, a classical music concert will take place in the botanical garden of the Castle, featuring Annamaria Turicchi (voice), Eleonora Perolini (harp), and the Acqui instrumental orchestra. The Acqui Terme Astronomical Studies Association will also provide stargazing opportunities.
The light and shadow show, tastings, and guided tours of the city's most suggestive sites will take place in Piazza Italia, renamed "Piazza Brachetto d'Acqui docg", and Piazza Bollente, renamed "Piazza Asti docg" on the 9th and 10th of August. Visitors can also visit the museum in the Castle, which will exceptionally remain open late on the 10th (for information and reservations, call 0144-322142).
The IAT of the Municipality will open a special post-office in Piazza Italia for the occasion to provide information about the participating restaurants. Those who dine at one of the participating restaurants will receive a welcome glass.
