Weekend Celebrations on Makarska Riviera Attract Over 12,000 Participants
May 5, 2025 - Makarska Riviera Shines During May Day Weekend
Gather 'round, folks! Over 12,000 people flocked to the breathtaking Makarska Riviera during the recent May Day Weekend, gracing one of Dalmatia's most enchanting coastlines.
According to Poslovni Dnevnik, the long weekend brought an impressive influx of Croatian and foreign visitors who chose to unwind on the Makarska Riviera. The local tourist board cheered these numbers as promising indicators for the summer ahead.
Approximately thirty hotels across the Makarska Riviera, stretching from Brela to Gradac, were fully booked. Hoteliers in the area are thrilled to greet their first summer guests by the second half of May. They're also stoked about reservations for the rest of the tourist season, especially in key markets.
Holiday homes and apartments in private accommodation followed suit, with more arriving in the first few days of June. The largest number of tourists stayed in Makarska itself, with about 4,000 individuals. The Meteor Hotel and others conquered by tourists, hosting hundreds of foreign and domestic guests alike.

Rounding out the tourist hotspots, Tučepi, Brela, Baška Voda, Podgora, Živogošće, and Gradac welcomed their share of visitors. This initial influx of vacationers in May is a positive sign of what's in store for July and August, the busiest months in Dalmatia.
As we strive for sustainable tourism and keep overtourism at bay, locales across Dalmatia must modernize their strategies to cope with the surge of tourists while preserving the area's essence.
