Typhoon Podul forces cancellation or delayed departure of 14 flights from Hong Kong airports
Typhoon Podul Disrupts Flights to and from Taiwan
As Typhoon Podul moves towards southern Taiwan, several airlines have made arrangements for affected passengers and numerous flights have been cancelled or delayed.
According to the latest updates in mid-August 2025, Hong Kong International Airport has cancelled about 15 flights to and from Taiwan. These disruptions are affecting regional flights, particularly those involving Taiwan's Kaohsiung, Taipei, and Xiamen airports.
Three flights to Taipei were cancelled by China Airlines, and four flights from Hong Kong to Taiwan's Kaohsiung on Wednesday were delayed until the next day, resulting in a total of at least 14 flights from Hong Kong International Airport that have been affected.
In addition, Singapore Airlines flight SQ876 to Taipei was diverted to Hong Kong due to adverse weather conditions.
Cathay Pacific Airways has been actively monitoring the situation, notifying affected customers, and waiving change fees to accommodate rebooking or refunds. Only two Cathay Pacific Airways flights, CX432 at 8.35am and CX458 at 4.35pm, were still listed as being on time.
Passengers are strongly advised to check the status of their flights with airlines directly and update contact details to receive the latest information. Greater Bay Airlines and HK Express have also made rebooking or refund arrangements for affected passengers. One Greater Bay Airlines flight to Quanzhou in mainland China and one HK Express service to Japan's Ishigaki were cancelled.
It's important to note that the typhoon could lead to more flight changes, so passengers are urged to check the latest flight status before departing for the airport.
For up-to-date specifics beyond this number or particular flight details, contacting airlines or checking real-time flight status platforms is recommended.
With the approaching Typhoon Podul, many individuals may have to alter their travel plans due to flight disruptions, affecting not only their immediate travel lifestyle but also future plans, as more cancellations or delays may occur. The weather conditions caused by Typhoon Podul have directly contributed to the cancellation of several flights, including Singapore Airlines flight SQ876 to Taipei.
