Tourist attraction expanded in Konkan region: Glass skywalk now hovers over Napne Waterfall in Maharashtra unveiled

In the picturesque Konkan region of Maharashtra, a new tourist attraction has emerged that promises an adrenaline rush like no other. The Napne Waterfall now hosts a glass skywalk, the first of its kind in the state, providing visitors with breathtaking panoramic views of the cascading waterfall and the surrounding lush green valley.

Located in the remote village of Nadhavade, this glass skywalk is a significant milestone in Maharashtra's efforts to enhance eco-tourism offerings. The village is easily accessible, lying near the Kolhapur-Tarle National Highway and connected to Kankavli by local transportation. It is also just 3 km from Vaibhavwadi Railway Station, ensuring easy access for tourists.

The glass skywalk is not just a spectacle; it is a testament to safety and engineering excellence. Constructed with steel supports and reinforced glass, it adheres to rigorous engineering standards to combine safety with the sensation of walking "on air." The bridge is designed to withstand environmental stresses while offering an unparalleled experience.

To ensure safety, the bridge is equipped with a limited visitor capacity, robust structural standards, and shoe covers to prevent scratches on the glass surface. During business hours, guardrails, signage, and supervision personnel will be in place. The project was completed at a cost of INR 99.63 lakh.

The Napne skywalk is part of a broader initiative to establish the Konkan region as a top travel destination. It is expected to bring a spring in local tourism and economy. The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is working on a number of projects in the Sindhudurg area to enhance connectivity and build amenities, making it easier for tourists to explore the region.

Visitors can reach the Sindhudurg Airport, which links the area to large cities like Mumbai, at a distance of 94km. Despite the remote location, the glass skywalk is expected to attract a significant number of tourists, thanks to its unique appeal and the region's natural beauty.

The Napne glass skywalk is more than just a tourist attraction; it is a symbol of Maharashtra's commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental preservation. The project is part of a 10-year plan to preserve Maharashtra's Maratha Forts, ensuring that the state's rich heritage is protected while offering visitors unforgettable experiences.
