Schleswig-Holstein's Tourism Chief, Bettina Bunge, Announces Move to Luxembourg
Bettina Bunge, the long-serving tourism chief of Schleswig-Holstein, will relocate to Luxembourg at the end of October. In her new role, she will assume sole management of the national Luxembourg Convention Bureau, overseeing global marketing for the entire meetings and conventions industry in Luxembourg.
Bunge has been at the helm of the Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Agency (TASH) since November 2017. Reflecting on her tenure, Bunge stated, "It has been an exhilarating endeavor to guide tourism marketing and management towards future-oriented paths for the real north." She expressed a sense of loss for Schleswig-Holstein, both professionally and personally.
The government is currently seeking a successor for Bunge's position. Economy State Secretary Julia Carstens lamented her departure, acknowledging Bunge's significant contributions to TASH's strategic development, marketing, cooperative realignments, and shaping of Schleswig-Holstein's tourism landscape. "We respect her personal decision," Carstens said, adding that the position will soon be advertised.
In 2024, Schleswig-Holstein achieved a record-breaking result, welcoming approximately 9.4 million guests and hosting over 38 million overnight stays, including camping. The north ranked fifth among the federal states behind Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Lower Saxony.
Bunge's new role in Luxembourg is part of Luxembourg's strategic renewal, which includes the launch of the "MEET. CONNECT. ACCELERATE." strategy at IMEX Frankfurt in 2025.
