Top-tier vineyards in Krasnodar region receive widespread acclaim
In the picturesque Kuban region of Russia, a flourishing wine industry is attracting both local and international attention. The region, renowned for its unique terroir and rich wine heritage, is home to some of the best wineries in the country.
Andrei Kholodov, Director of MegaFon in Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Adygea, has announced that they are developing telecom infrastructure in the region to ensure a comfortable stay for travelers. New base stations are now operational in the 'Dolina Lefkadiya' and 'Sauk-Dere' wine areas, providing Green SIM card holders with average data speeds of 50 Mbps.
One of the most popular wineries in Kuban is Château de Talu, located near Gelendzhik. Visitors to this winery, which means "castle on a slope" in French, have enjoyed modernized internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps. In fact, since the beginning of the year, Megafon users have consumed 35,000 GB of traffic at "Chateau de Talu", enough for continuous online display of the entire wine collection over 400 times.
Megafon experts have identified "Château de Talu" as the most popular winery in Krasnodar Krai. The second most popular winery, according to Megafon, is the "Abrau-Durso" winery in the namesake village near Novorossiysk. This winery, which traces its history back to the Russian Empire, received 45% of the total online traffic on regional thematic resources.
The "Myaskhako" winery in Novorossiysk's suburbs ranks second with a 25% share of online visits, while "Gai-Kodzor" near Anapa completes the top three with 16% of online visits.
Other notable wineries in the region include Galitsky and Galitsky in Anapa, known for Krasnostop Zolotovsky red wine and noted white wines like Ballet Blanc 2022. Sikory Winery in Novorossiysk has Krasnostop wines with strong ratings, including Krasnostop 2018. Vedernikov Winery in the Don Valley produces Krasnostop Barrique 2020 with high ratings. Fanagoria in the Sennoi area is among the top producers of both red Krasnostop and white wines in Kuban with products rated around 4.1/5.
The Kuban region also boasts protected geographical indications like the Kuban: Taman Peninsula for rosé wines, highlighting the area's unique terroir and wine heritage. Furthermore, 20 Kuban wineries entered the top 50 best wine farms in Russia as of 2023, reflecting substantial investment and popularity in the industry.
Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Samara, Rostov, Yekaterinburg, and Lipetsk residents frequently visit "Chateau de Talu" and "Fanagoria", adding to the growing recognition of the Kuban region in Russia’s wine tourism sector. With improved telecom infrastructure and a thriving wine industry, Kuban is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for wine lovers.
