Tomorrow's Launch of FASTag Annual Pass: Fees, Eligibility, Application Process, and Essential Information You Require

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), has announced the launch of the FASTag Annual Pass. This prepaid toll payment option is designed for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans, offering a convenient and upfront solution for frequent travelers on national highways.

Key Features of the FASTag Annual Pass

Eligibility

  • The FASTag Annual Pass is available only for non-commercial private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans).
  • The vehicle must have an active FASTag linked to the vehicle's Registration Number (VRN).
  • Valid ID proof and vehicle details are required when applying.

Coverage

  • The FASTag Annual Pass is valid at all National Highway (NH) toll plazas across India.
  • It is also applicable on designated National Expressway (NE) toll plazas.

Validity

  • The FASTag Annual Pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or until the vehicle completes 200 toll crossings, whichever occurs earlier.

Benefits

  • The FASTag Annual Pass offers a fixed yearly cost of ₹3,000, removing the need for multiple FASTag recharges throughout the year.
  • It reduces hassle and time at toll plazas via seamless RFID-based toll deduction.
  • The prepaid model helps avoid repeated online transactions.
  • The FASTag Annual Pass aims to reduce congestion at toll plazas and streamline toll payments.
  • Easy activation within about 2 hours after payment and verification through platforms like the Rajmarg Yatra app or NHAI website.

Activating the FASTag Annual Pass

  • Pre-book or apply through the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI official website.
  • Provide vehicle details, active FASTag ID, VRN, and identity proof.
  • Pay ₹3,000 and wait for verification and activation, which typically happens within 2 hours.

The FASTag Annual Pass simplifies toll payments for frequent travelers on national highways by offering a convenient, upfront prepaid option linked to existing FASTags. It is optional, drivers can continue using their existing FASTag for regular toll payments at standard rates. To continue enjoying unlimited NH and NE travel, users must renew the pass for another year, which resets the 200-trip allowance.

Please note that using the FASTag Annual Pass in a commercial vehicle will lead to immediate deactivation without prior notice. The FASTag Annual Pass functions like a regular FASTag after its expiry or reaching the 200-trip limit, requiring recharge to continue. At other locations like state highways, roads managed by local authorities, or parking facilities, normal user fees will apply for the FASTag.

The FASTag Annual Pass is set to go into effect on August 15, 2025. This pass is a step towards creating a smoother, more efficient toll payment system for private vehicle owners.
