The Kempen Land's ancient church is the Chapel of St. Peter, hailing as its oldest religious structure.
On Sunday, September 21, an ecumenical bike tour is scheduled to take place, organised by the Protestant Church Anrath-Vorst and the Catholic parishes St. Johannes Anrath and St. Godehard Vorst. The tour will commence at 2 PM from the Catholic church in Anrath.
Participants are invited to gather at the Catholic church in Anrath for the start of the journey. The route will lead the group to St. Peter's Chapel near Kempen, which was constructed during the time of Charlemagne (747/748 - 814) and is the oldest church in the Kempen region.
Upon arrival at St. Peter's Chapel, a brief service will be held. Following the service, a picnic will be held under the linden trees in front of the chapel (participants are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks).
The return journey to Vorst or Anrath will be at a leisurely pace. For Vorst participants, a pick-up will be arranged at the Rewe parking lot (post box), Kempener Straße, around 2:25 PM.

In the Middle Ages, St. Peter belonged to the Great Honschaft Vorst, one of five administrative units in the Amt Kempen. Today, a star-shaped network of paths like the "Gelles-Kirchweg," "Am Anrather Weg," and "St.-Peter-Allee" hint at this history.
Until the separation of St. Peter from the Anrath parish around 1010, Anrath only had a small wooden church. Despite this, Anrath and Vorst Christians had to attend mass at St. Peter in today's Kempen.
