Seattle's Washington Park Arboretum Transforms into Fall Foliage Masterpiece

The Washington Post reports that the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle is transforming into a natural masterpiece this fall, offering breaking news on a stunning foliage experience. With over 10,000 trees from more than 100 countries, the arboretum's landscape changes around you as you walk, featuring different gardens like the Woodland Garden and Rhododendon Glen.

The best way to experience the arboretum's fall wonderland is the 2-mile Loop Trail, taking about two hours to complete. Peak fall colors typically occur mid-to late October, but can vary from year to year and often last into November. For a more mindful visit with better photography opportunities, consider visiting on weekdays.

The arboretum provides a special handout and audio guide for forest bathing, a soothing and immersive mental health experience. The Japanese Garden, home to the largest collection of Japanese Maples in North America, turns bright scarlet in the fall. The Arboretum Foundation, along with the University of Washington Botanic Gardens and Seattle Parks and Recreation, work together on maintenance and research at the arboretum.

The Washington Park Arboretum is easily accessible by public transportation and is open every day from dawn to dusk, with free admission (except the Japanese Garden). The Graham Visitors Center, open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offers information, a gift shop, snack bar, and restrooms. Don't miss out on this beautiful fall experience in Seattle.
