Party organizers at Airbeat neglected an essential aspect this year.

Neustadt-Glewe, a picturesque town in northern Germany, has found itself in an unexpected situation following the recent Airbeat festival. The event, known for its lively atmosphere and diverse music, has resulted in a surge of lost items, leaving the city's administration grappling with an unforeseen workload.

Mayor Steffen Klieme and his team have been inundated with calls and inquiries about lost items since the festival. Despite the additional workload, the city is legally obligated to handle the found items due to the festival taking place within its boundaries.

The city's lost and found office is now responsible for these items, and the process for returning lost items has been implemented. For phones, callers are required to reveal their PIN and describe what is on the lock screen to facilitate the return process. However, it's important to note that no administrative fee is charged for returning lost items.

The lost items range from personal belongings like ID cards from various European countries, passports, credit and EC cards, headphones, charging cables, wallets, phones, small radio devices, sunglasses, and even car keys. Some items, unfortunately, have not been picked up by their owners, leaving them in the care of the city.

Mayor Klieme has expressed a preference for the organiser or district to take care of the lost items in the future, making the process more manageable for the city. The head of administration has stated that up to three employees are dealing with the found items, with over 100 calls and numerous emails being received in the first week alone.

In an effort to streamline the process, the city encourages those who have lost items to report them via email to [email protected]. A photo of the lost item can be helpful in the search process, making it easier to identify and return the item to its rightful owner.

While the city is committed to returning lost items, it's essential to note that the availability of specific information on how the City of Neustadt-Glewe handles lost items from the Airbeat festival, including details about phone returns, administrative fees, or the timeframe for keeping found objects, may not be widely published online. For precise information on these topics, direct contact with the City of Neustadt-Glewe official administration or the Airbeat festival organisers is recommended.

The lost items orphaned in Neustadt-Glewe's lost and found office include items from lifestyle categories such as ID cards, passports, and wallets, along with fashion-and-beauty items like sunglasses, and electronics like phones, headphones, and charging cables. Food-and-drink items like car keys and small radio devices also made the list. Pets and home-and-garden items were mercifully absent, while relationships and travel memorabilia remained lost in the sea of items. The city administration is advising those searching for lost items to email [email protected], attaching a photo for easier identification. Despite the unforeseen workload, the city emphasizes that no administrative fee is charged for returning lost items.
