Organizing endeavors for school tasks and the elderly network (55+) - Unveiling the plans by supporters of the children's farm and their benevolent patrons
The Children's Farm, a beloved institution in the community, has had a productive and engaging year, as evidenced by the numerous improvements and initiatives that have been implemented.
Last year, a new medicinal and herb garden was established, complete with a large herb book, adding to the educational value of the farm. New picket fences were acquired to maintain the farm's traditional image, and teaching tables were added to facilitate learning experiences. The farm garden was renovated with a new pavilion roof, providing visitors with a shaded area to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
The farm also saw the addition of a playground seesaw and a meadow rest area as part of the nature pedagogical theme on "farm meadow, field, and tree." Support for beekeeping, bee and insect themes, and the development of a walnut tree alley, including benches and information boards about walnuts, are planned for the future.
The Children's Farm is committed to sustainable food handling and origins, and this is reflected in the volunteer economy garden, which grows self-grown fruits and vegetables. The farm also focuses on environmental education, with the school associated with the Kinderhof, the KGS Hambergen, participating in projects related to moorland preservation and climate protection in cooperation with NABU Hambergen.
The school bench project, with the topic "water, climate, farm weather," has been restarted in collaboration with the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium. The renovation of the duck pond and the donkey and horse sandboxes are also on the project list.
The farm has also been active in the digital sphere, producing a lockdown film titled "Children's farm at home" last year. The 2020 home prize was celebrated by all Children's farm people with a joint tree planting and a new round bench in front of the farm.
The farm's kitchen activities are supported and developed by the association. The Gesamtschule an der Erft has pioneers of a farm AG, and the network 55+ has a farm meet-up every two weeks on Sundays in the farm café.
Sandra Maria Breuer, a member of the Children's Farm team, expressed her gratitude towards the entire team for their achievements in the last two years. The support and continued backing of all members, sponsors, and supporters is acknowledged.
As the Children's Farm continues to grow and evolve, it remains dedicated to providing a nurturing and educational environment for all who visit. The farm's focus on sustainability, environmental education, and community engagement makes it a valuable asset to the community.
