In the heart of Solingen, Germany, the Persian-German Cultural Exchange and Sports Club e.V. hosted a captivating celebration of the Jalda Night. Gholamreza Amani, the club's founder and chairman since its inception in 2018, warmly welcomed members and guests.

The evening was filled with an array of epic songs and recitations that have been cherished in Persian tradition, creatively blended with Persian poetry and ancient Persian theater traditions by Gholamreza Amani. Layla Yapichi and other contributors, all dressed in traditional costumes, also performed during the celebration.

The festivities took place in a cosy setting, with many members and guests seated in a semicircle around a decoration of oranges and other fruits, symbolising an abundant table. Notable German guests included writer Kay Ganahl from Solingen and writer Anwar Alman, from Düsseldorf.

Anwar Alman recited Persian poetry in its original language and in German translation, adding a touch of elegance to the event. The Jalda Night, also known as the Jalda Festival, is a traditional festival marking the longest and darkest night of the year (Winter Solstice). It emphasises peace and hope among people, and has non-Muslim origins.

Gholamreza Amani showcased his acting and singing talents during the celebration, while also giving a Persian speech and greeting everyone in German. An "old woman" member explained the significance of the festival to the audience, highlighting its importance in Persian culture.

The Persian-German Cultural Exchange and Sports Club e.V. has been active beyond Solingen, promoting cultural exchange. However, for more detailed information about their background and activities outside Solingen, it is recommended to consult their official website, contact points, or local German-Persian community resources.

The Jalda Night in Solingen was a testament to the club's commitment to fostering intercultural dialogue and community integration. The event served as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage shared between Persia and Germany, and the power of art and tradition in bridging cultural gaps.

  2. During the event, food and drink were served in a cozy setting, reflecting the club's focus on home and garden, and encouraging a sense of togetherness.
  3. Pets were not included in the Jalda Night celebrations, but the event did foster relationships beyond cultural boundaries, bringing together Persian and German members and guests.
  4. While travel was not a prominent aspect of the Jalda Night in Solingen, the Persian-German Cultural Exchange and Sports Club e.V. has expanded its activities beyond the city, fostering cultural exchange and connections between Persia and other parts of the world.
