Düsseldorf's Night of Museums: A Vibrant Celebration of Culture
Düsseldorf's Night of Museums is set to illuminate the city's cultural scene on April 26, from 7 pm to 2 am. This annual event offers a unique opportunity to explore over 50 artistic locations, with museums and cultural institutions extending their hours and hosting special events, performances, and interactive programs.
Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance at a cost of 17 euros (reduced 12 euros), with children gaining free admission. The central info station and shuttle bus hub for the Night of Museums is at Grabbeplatz between Kunsthalle and K20. Shuttle buses will also be running to the neighboring city of Neuss for the event.
One of the highlights of the Night of Museums is the participation of major institutions such as K20, Kunstpalast, and NRW-Forum. At K20, the exhibition "Chagall" is being showcased, while the NRW-Forum is persistently showcasing the exhibition "Superheroes". At Kunstpalast, the exhibition "MAMA" is on display.
The historic little castle of the district government on Cecilienallee features a "most beautiful selfie mirror" and a DJ, while the Media Design University in the harbor offers video shows and music. An art projection by Elena Panknin illuminates the Rheinturm until the early morning.
Papier-mâché figures are available at the Wagenbauhalle of the Committee Düsseldorf Carnival (Merowingerstrasse), and Jacques Tilly's three-dimensional caricatures for the Düsseldorf Rosenmontag parade are displayed in a show building with music.
In addition to these institutions, art can be found in unexpected places, such as a former swimming pool ("the pool" on Tersteegenstraße) and in the renovated toilet facility "Reinraum" (Aderstraße). In Neuss, comedians are performing in the Rheinpark and the Clemens Sels Museum is presenting "The Unboxing Experience".
