Minimalist charm radiates at La Fondation hotel in Paris, offering undeniable coziness
La Fondation Hotel, a striking addition to the Parisian skyline, has recently opened its doors on Rue Legendre in the 17th arrondissement. Transformed from a raw concrete parking facility by Paris-based architecture firm PCA-STREAM, the hotel now boasts a visible concrete structure wrapped in greenery, a testament to its brutalist DNA.
The architect behind this masterpiece is Philippe Chiambaretta, known for his innovative designs. Inside, the interiors were crafted by New York studio Roman & Williams, blending a modern yet eclectic style that rewards lingering.
La Fondation Hotel offers 58 rooms, each featuring Typology amenities. The Deluxe Room spans 24 sqm, while the Esprit Libre Suite takes up a generous 60 sqm with a 7th-floor balcony. The guest rooms boast muted palettes, artisanal detail, wood, stone, and indigo accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer breathtaking views of the city.
The hotel's design extends to its outdoor spaces. The solarium, reserved exclusively for guests, is a hidden garden with city views, shaded by monstera, ficus, and rose bushes. The rooftop garden covers 1,500 sqm and offers views stretching from Sacré-Cœur to the Eiffel Tower. Here, you'll find the rooftop bar, offering a 360-degree panorama of Paris, and soon, La Fondation restaurant, featuring a cinematic view and natural wines.
For fitness enthusiasts, the health club at La Fondation avoids standard gym clichés. It offers Technogym equipment, a juice bar, a climbing wall, and over 100 weekly classes.
When it comes to dining, La Fondation Hotel is home to two spaces led by Chef Thomas Rossi. Brasserie La Base, on the ground floor, offers an al fresco terrace and serves unpretentious French classics. The rooftop restaurant, La Fondation, will soon open.
La Fondation Hotel's location is a treasure trove of Parisian experiences. Nearby, you'll find classic bistros, fragrant torréfacteurs (coffee roasters), and restaurants with various cuisines. Explore Parc Monceau or the village-like neighborhood of Les Batignolles, both within easy reach.
Whether you're seeking a city escape or a base for Parisian adventures, La Fondation Hotel offers an unforgettable experience. Its service missteps may hint at areas for improvement, but the overall atmosphere, location, and aesthetic more than compensate. The hotel's design rewards lingering, making it a perfect destination for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
