India Launches New E-Arrival Card for Smooth Foreign Visitor Entry

India has launched a new e-Arrival Card system for foreign visitors, aiming to streamline immigration procedures and reduce congestion at major airports. The digital form, similar to Google Forms, replaces traditional paper disembarkation cards and must be completed online before departure. The e-Arrival Card collects essential details such as full name, nationality, passport number, purpose of visit, and contact information. Travellers can fill out the form at their convenience, 72 hours to 24 hours before departure, using official channels or the Su-Swagatam mobile app. This eliminates the need to complete forms mid-flight or wait in long queues upon arrival. The Bureau of Immigration (BoI) is responsible for implementing this electronic system. Despite the e-Arrival Card's convenience, travellers must still obtain a valid visa or e-visa. Failure to complete the digital form accurately or at all may result in longer processing times and referral to manual counters. India's new e-Arrival Card system is mandatory for foreign nationals, excluding Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs). By presenting a confirmation email or printed copy of the submitted e-Arrival Card to immigration officers, visitors can expect a smoother, paperless process and reduced queues at airports.
