I implemented ChatGPT's travel recommendations for my holiday vacation, and my previously held resentment towards it has vanished.
Let's dive in! I've had my reservations about AI, but you know what they say, "You can't knock it 'til you try it." So, I decided to test the waters with ChatGPT, and boy, was I impressed!
I was tasked with planning a dream vacation for three friends and me, all to be orchestrated by AI. This wasn't just for fun; you can catch all the action on our new 'AI planned it' series dropping on YouTube today!
To make things interesting, we pitted ChatGPT against another AI, Gemini, and the results were enlightening. ChatGPT took a more methodical approach, asking follow-up questions, and went the extra mile with research. It conducted 110 searches with 34 sources before presenting its top five destination suggestions: Santorini, Greece; Madeira, Portugal; Bay of Kotor, Montenegro; Cappadocia, Turkey, and Essaouira, Morocco.
Gemini, on the other hand, shot out five destinations in under five minutes. While these choices weren't bad, they didn't exactly ignite our wanderlust.
Watching ChatGPT research in real-time was the cherry on top for me. Not only did it provide crucial destination information, but it scrutinized photo licenses and creative commons restrictions to maintain ethical and legal practices in its findings. Now, I'm not saying ChatGPT is perfect, but it's definitely revolutionizing the way we approach research.
My initial concern with AI's impact on academics and journalism centered around the spread of misinformation. However, seeing ChatGPT employ proven research methodologies and real-time qualifications of its findings has changed my perspective. But, it's important to remember that AI is just a tool, and we've still got a ways to go before we can trust these tools in the hands of the general public.
