Giant cruise liner undergoes marine tests prior to sailing to Florida
The soon-to-be-largest cruise ship in the world, Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas, is gearing up for its inaugural voyage from Port Canaveral, Florida, in August, following the conclusion of its sea trials.
Its sister ship, Icon of the Seas, which debuted last year out of Miami, marked the initial stages of the Star of the Seas' construction. The vessel has been under construction since February 2023, in the Meyer Turku shipyard, off the coast of Turku, Finland.
After spending eight days at sea for thorough testing of its systems, the Star of the Seas returned to the shipyard on May 27, 2025, having completed its sea trials. The vessel boasts a gross tonnage of 248,663, and once deployed, it will offer week-long sailings from Port Canaveral.
Preparations are underway for the August 2025 debut of the largest cruise ship in the world, ensuring a smooth transition from the shipyard to its new home in Port Canaveral.
The upcoming launch of the Star of the Seas promises an exciting lifestyle transformation for travel enthusiasts who book its week-long sailings from Port Canaveral. For those who appreciate luxury travel experiences, the Star of the Seas' debut voyage offers an opportunity to explore new destinations while enjoying a unique floating resort-style lifestyle.
