Embracing a greener future, the Danish capital Copenhagen is leveling up its commitment to sustainable travel this summer. Originally a summer pilot project, the "CopenPay" campaign is now expanding, offering a plethora of eco-friendly rewards for travelers who choose the path less trodden.

Over the next nine weeks, starting from June 17 and lasting until August 17, tourists can immerse themselves in a smörgåsbord of sustainable experiences. The campaign has grown substantially, with over 90 attractions extending rewards like free coffee, discounted museum tickets, and eco-conscious canal tours.

Perks for Train Travelers

This year, the campaign is laying the tracks for train travelers. Those arriving in Copenhagen by train get a warm welcome with free bike rentals, yoga classes, tours, or reduced prices at top-tier attractions. The longer usage of their humble abodes is also being encouraged to foster a more sustainable approach to travel.

"CopenPay flips traditional tourism practices on their head, instilling eco-consciousness into the very essence of the Copenhagen visitor experience," says Søren Tegen Pedersen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen. The campaign doesn't aim at attracting more visitors but rather stirring the mindset of current tourists, fostering a shift towards more eco-friendly travel choices. Due to the carbon footprint tourism creates, it's paramount to alter travelers' perspectives and motivate them to make Earth-loving decisions.
