Volunteers Bring Community Spirit to Hellgate High School Coffee Cart
A group of dedicated volunteers, including alumni and former coaches, are brightening up the mornings at Hellgate High School with their service at the school's coffee cart.
Kelsey McCall, one of the volunteers, started helping out last year when a friend invited her to join the team. McCall's eldest child and middle son currently attend Hellgate, making her connection to the school even stronger. She enjoys being around the students and finds working with her fellow volunteers at the coffee cart particularly rewarding.
Libby Schneider, another volunteer, is a familiar face at the coffee cart. Her sophomore child is currently a student at Hellgate, and her younger child will join the school next year. Schneider's favorite thing about the coffee cart is being involved with the Hellgate community. She shares that she's terribly afraid of spiders and sharks, but absolutely loves dad jokes.
Jennifer Savage, who works at the coffee cart on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30, finds joy in seeing her daughter and her friends face to face after the pandemic. Both of Savage's daughters attended Hellgate High School and are now in New York.
Sue Bell works at the coffee cart on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30. The joy on sleepy faces in the morning when they get their caffeine is her favorite thing about the coffee cart.
Kristy Pilgrim works Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:30. For Pilgrim, the coffee cart is more than just a place to serve drinks; it's a chance to make a difference in the lives of the students at Hellgate High School.
