New York City is gearing up for its 2025 Summer Streets initiative, a five-Saturday event that will transform the city's streets into pedestrian and cyclist-friendly spaces. This year, the car-free fun will span all five boroughs, making it the largest and most comprehensive Summer Streets program to date.

Dates and Boroughs:

Mark your calendars! The Summer Streets events will take place on the following dates and in these boroughs:

  • July 26: Queens and Staten Island
  • August 2, 9, 16: Manhattan
  • August 23: Brooklyn and The Bronx

Manhattan Route:

For the first time in the initiative’s history, the car-free corridor in Manhattan will stretch uninterrupted from the Brooklyn Bridge at the southern tip to Dyckman Street and Broadway in Inwood at the northern tip, covering the full length of Manhattan. While Park Avenue north of 125th Street and most adjacent avenues will remain open to vehicles, the rest of the route promises an uninterrupted car-free experience.

Other Boroughs:

On July 26, separate Summer Streets events will take place in Queens and Staten Island. On August 23, Brooklyn and The Bronx will host their segments of the initiative.

Activities:

The Summer Streets initiative will feature a variety of activities, including free cultural programs, performances, fitness classes, interactive art, giveaways, and family-friendly activities along the routes and at rest stops.

Additional Notes:

  • Free Citi Bike day passes are available through Lyft with the promo code “LYFTSUMMER25” on event days.
  • Events run rain or shine with no vehicle traffic allowed on designated streets during event hours.
  • The total car-free routes span over 22 miles across the five boroughs.
