On August 10, the city museum Wiesbaden will bid adieu to its captivating exhibition, "LIMES - World Empire. World Heritage. Wiesbaden". The historical spirit of the exhibition will come to a close with a special finissage, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Roman history one last time.
The exhibition, located at the city museum's premises in the heart of the market, has been a popular attraction since its opening. Dr. Daniel Burger-Völlemecke, the archaeological curator at the Foundation Stadtmuseum Wiesbaden, will lead a final tour through the exhibition at 3 pm. Places for this tour are limited, so be sure to secure your spot.
Between 2 and 4 pm, an open family workshop will be held, providing an engaging experience for all ages. Visitors can participate in crafting activities inspired by ancient Roman everyday life. Examples of crafts available include mosaics and legionnaire's helmets, which you can take home as a keepsake.
As the day progresses, the museum will transform into a forum. From 4 to 5 pm, visitors can enjoy a glass of champagne and Roman snacks while saying goodbye to the exhibition. If you wish to send a greeting to the gods, this is your chance! No togas are required to attend these events.
Admission to all events on August 10 is free, making it an affordable way to experience Roman history and bid farewell to the exhibition. The exhibition will open its doors from 11 am on August 10. So, if you want a final selfie with Caesar, don't miss out!
