For those interested in learning more about Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, a significant figure in Neuwied's history, a city tour dedicated to his legacy is being organized. The tour starts at 2 PM from the Raiffeisen monument. Registration for this tour must be done by October 3rd. Children under 6 can participate in both tours for free. The Raiffeisen tour will take you on a journey through key stops in Neuwied, including the former mayor's office, the Raiffeisen family's residence, the Raiffeisen printing house, and Raiffeisen's grave at the cemetery on Sohler Weg. The tour will also lead you to Heddesdorf, where you will have the opportunity to walk in Raiffeisen's footsteps. The old town tour, which starts at Neuwied Castle, lasts approximately 90 minutes. Key stops on this tour include the Market Church, the Schärjer monument, and the Herrnhuter Quarter. No prior registration is required for the old town tour. Raiffeisen, a social reformer and father of cooperatives, is considered one of the most influential figures in Neuwied's history. His legacy is further explored at the Kreis-Museum in Neuwied, which houses exhibits related to his life and work. October 5th presents a unique opportunity for individuals to learn more about Raiffeisen and his contributions to Neuwied's history.
