Thinking his visa info was already in the system, he neglected to present the e-visa at immigration, resulting in his temporary admission under Vietnam's unilateral visa exemption policy until March 16, 2025. Not realizing his mistake, S.D.T.J mistakenly believed he could stay longer in the country, overstaying his permitted days.

Punishments for Overstaying

Under Clause 4, Point d, Article 18 of Decree No. 144/2021/NĐ-CP dated December 31, 2021, foreign nationals who overstay their temporary residence permits by between 30 and under 60 days face administrative fines ranging from VND5 million to VND10 million (approximately USD 192 to 385).
