The JugendJazzOrchester Nordrhein-Westfalen (JJO NRW) is set to commemorate its 50th anniversary in 2025, with a special performance at the Arnsberg Sauerlandtheater on September 5th, at 8 PM. This event is hosted by the Cultural Office of the City of Arnsberg and Jazz-Club Arnsberg e.V.

The JJO NRW has gained recognition for its innovative and unique projects, including collaborations with artists and ensembles from various music genres, as well as classical orchestras. The orchestra's openness and competence in crossing stylistic boundaries lead to interesting combinations that spark curiosity and sometimes provoke.

The NRW selection ensemble, the performers for this anniversary concert, have been consistently successful, earning them the WDR Jazz Prize. Over the years, they have undertaken 45 concert tours around the world, evolving into a model project for many other youth jazz orchestras in Germany.

The performance at the Arnsberg Sauerlandtheater is part of a series of preparations for the 50th anniversary, which will also include concerts at the Philharmonies in Cologne, Essen, and the Konzerthaus Dortmund.

Tickets for the performance can be purchased through the reservation portal at www.reservix.de and at local ticket offices in Arnsberg, such as Reisebüro Meyer, Buchhandlung Sonja Vieth e.K., and Verkehrsverein Arnsberg e.V.

The JJO NRW was founded in 1975, making it the first ensemble of its kind in Germany. It has been supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as by the then North Rhine-Westphalian Minister-President Johannes Rau.

In the anniversary year, collaborations are planned with various music universities and youth jazz orchestras from other federal states. While specific artists or singers participating in these collaborations are not yet announced, the orchestra regularly invites renowned soloists from jazz, pop, and chanson genres.

Through these collaborations and productions, the JJO NRW continues to showcase its diverse activities and presence in the scene, acting as cultural ambassadors for NRW in jazz. The orchestra's 50th anniversary is marked by various activities that celebrate its rich history and look forward to its promising future.
