In an exciting development for free people, the free use of local transport will be available in Germany, France, and Luxembourg for individuals under 28 years old in July and August 2025.

The initiative, which includes the Young People's Ticket and Germany Ticket, will allow young people from Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Baden-Württemberg to utilize regional transport in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, and the French region of Grand Est, including journeys as far as Paris.

The offer, announced by Saar Environment and Transport Minister Petra Berg, is part of a broader plan to establish the free transport offer permanently, enabling young people to explore large parts of the Greater Region.

However, it's important to note that this offer does not apply to long-distance traffic, such as IC, EC, ICE, TGV, FlixBus, FlixTrain, and other similar services.

Young people from the Grand Est region can also take advantage of this cross-border offer for free local transport use in July and August 2025.

The application for the Young People's Ticket must be made by the 15th of the preceding month at the saarVV. A free seat reservation is required for local transport connections to Paris.

Public transport remains completely free within Luxembourg for holders of the Germany or Young People's Ticket. The cross-border offer between Germany and Luxembourg does not apply to long-distance bus traffic.

The Young People's Ticket, a discounted Germany Ticket for pupils, trainees, and volunteers with a place of residence in Saarland, is valid nationwide in public transport.

This cross-border offer between Germany and Luxembourg has been valid since the beginning of the year for holders of the Germany or Young People's Ticket, excluding the long-distance bus line L40. The offer is available for the second year in a row.

Minister Petra Berg made the announcement regarding a transfer possibility for young people in the context of transportation policy, specifically related to the Germany ticket (Deutschlandticket) pricing and financing. She explained that this offer allows for an environmentally friendly discovery of neighboring regions and attractive French cities.

The price of the Young People's Ticket is 39.40 euros per month.

This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for young people to explore the Greater Region at no cost, promoting environmentally friendly travel and cultural exchange.
