American Express to Undergo Major Revamp of Las Vegas Centurion Lounge

Revamped American Express Centurion Lounge in Vegas on the Horizon

Get ready to experience airport lounges like never before, especially if you're frequenting the Vegas strip! American Express is set to expand its very first Centurion Lounge at the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (a.k.a Harry Reid International Airport).

Currently, the lounge, positioned opposite Gate D1 in Concourse D, offers a delightful range of amenities including free bites, a well-stocked bar, shower facilities, and work spaces[1][4]. However, the expansion is set to double the lounge's footprint, making it one of the largest in the network.

The amenities in the expanded lounge will include additional multipurpose rooms, new private telephone booths, reinvented workspace areas, and a reimagined reception area[1]. The expansion and renovation are expected to be completed by 2021.

As you peer into the ongoing construction, you might notice the relocation of a set of stairs adjacent to the existing lounge, which marks the first step of the work, as per recent building permits issued in Clark County, Nevada[1].

Unfortunately, all Centurion Lounges are currently closed[1]. But once they reopen, the Las Vegas location – even while construction is still in progress – should be able to welcoming travel-weary patrons once again. If the wait is too much, you can always take a peek at American Express’s dedicated site to bring the Centurion Lounge experience straight to your home[1].

In addition to the Las Vegas expansion, three other Centurion Lounges are under construction – Denver (DEN), London Heathrow (LHR), and New York (JFK)[1]. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic may delay the planned opening of the latter two in the first half of 2020[2].

For travelers who frequently jet off from LAS, this expansion is a much-needed welcome change. Here’s hoping Amex gives the same treatment to other popular locations too[3].

As you wait out the pandemic, Amex has sweetened the deal for stuck-at-home travelers. To name a few, the updated Platinum Card® from American Express comes with added credits for streaming and wireless telephone carriers for the rest of the year[2]. And once travel resumes, Platinum cardholders can once again luxuriate in the rejuvenated Centurion Lounge network.
